Long Time Since My Last Note

Greetings Greetings!

I hope everyone is doing great!  It is hard to believe how long it has been since I've been on my blog. Time just gets away from me.

I have been busy with work, playing at Disneyland and I have made time to create some fun stuff.  If you haven't checked out www.stitcherydickorydock.com Sugar Block Club for 2016 you need too!  The blocks are adorable and have been fun to make!

February Quilt Con came to Pasadena.  It was so much fun!  I took classes with Amy Smart from www.diaryofaquilter.com she is so sweet and a class with Jenni Baker from www.incolororder.com  The classes were fun and meet some great peeps!  Then in March it was off to North Carolina to visit my dear friend and her family and to the amazing Sew South Retreat that Jennifer Mathis from www.ellisonlane.blogspot.com creates.   We made some great stuff.  Thanks to Dritz, Pellon Products and all the other special companies that gave out fun swag!  Some of the creations I made are below.  April I was off to Detriot, MI for a work conference and then to Phoenix, AZ to help my nephew at a golf tournament he was helping to put on and needed some volunteers - Auntie comes and saves the day LOL.  By the way he makes great margaritas!!

I have had fun making some cute little bags recently and I have done a couple of swaps from that I found on Instagram and attending guild meetings for the Long Beach Modern Quilt Guild.

Below are just some fun items that I have made and some fun people I meet at Quilt Con.  Well, I really gotta figure out how to use blogger with pictures!  LOL.

I hope everyone is well and sending out sweet wishes to all!  Happy creating wonderful memories!

Cheers,
Sharon

Busy - Having Fun - Quilt Retreat

Hello Everyone: You can say busy work, hanging with family, quilting and playing at Disneyland has I guess you can say got in the way of blogging.

Hope everyone is doing great!  Life is good over here!  I went to my first sewing retreat (Sew South) in April in North Carolina and it was such a huge bonus to see my dear next door neighbor who moved there several years ago.  We had so much fun playing, laughing and yup she even took me to the biggest fabric store I have ever seen (Costco size store) Mary Jo's Cloth Store.  Boy oh boy the fabric Whew! The Sew South Retreat was amazing - so much fun - met new friends so many great quilters! Meeting Amy Gibson (http://www.stitcherydickorydock.com) and Jennifer Mathis (www.EllisonLane.com) was amazing. I have been following Amy for many years who then shared about Jennifer in her blog years ago! Thanks Amy for teaching me on how to make my first pillow.  They were so much fun to get to know and to learn from them!  Jennifer put on the best retreat especially for me who stepped out of her boundries.  I can't wait to go back to another retreat and to play again with my "Hi De Ho Neighbor" that I miss playing and chatting up a storm (plus her family)! When we were little we would just chat out of our windows to discuss  the plans for the weekend fun.

The other fun thing is that I decided to do was to join a modern quilt guild.  Which has been fun meeting new people, learning new tips and sharing the fun items you make!

Have a fun summer!  Boy it's hard to believe it summer!

Here's some photos (wallet and pillow) from Sew South and a baby blanket (Prism Pattern by Amy Gibson).

Off to sewing I go!

Time Change and Time Flew

Greetings Everyone!
Tonight the time changes which means daylight when I come home from work - Yippee!  I hope Jan and Feb months were good to you.  February was busy with Birthdays.  I was able to accomplish some Block of the Months (BOM), a baby hexi quilt, a Valentine table runner and paper pieced a shamrock that I turned into a mug rug.  All were accomplished in between playing at Disneyland, taking a mini vacation and hanging out with my Mom!

Jan - Sugar Block Club

Feb - Sugar Block Club

Shamrock - Pattern from Craftsy
To make the hexi quilt you can get the template from the Missiouri Star Quilt Co.  I took a free motion class to learn some of the basics.  This was the first big quilt that I did the free motion swirls on the quilt.

For the Valentine table runner you can get the pattern from Diary of a Quilter by Amy Smart. It is a really cute and fun to make!

The Shamrock is from Craftsy.  It is paper piecing that is really fun. Plus I used a tracing wheel that was my Grandma's.  You use it on the lines of the paper before you sew. That way it is easier to tear the paper after you sew.  I'm hoping to make a few more of the Shamrocks!  As we are in March this month is full of birthdays too!  So happy birthday to my Mom, my adorable Nephew and my dear friend Ann!  Oh and my dear Pops who I miss so much!

Well, stay tuned for some more BOM and quilts that need to be finished.

Be well and stay healthy!
Cheers!

Cheers to a Fun 2014

Greetings:  I hope you had a wonderful holiday season.  Wishing you a great 2014!  But where did the last few months go?  For me it has been working, taking a sewing class on how to free motion quilt (almost done with the quilt to share in the next post), getting last minute sewing gifts done, playing with friends from Minnesota, friends got married in San Diego, visiting family for Christmas and then traveling to AZ for Christmas and to ring in 2014.

I have completed the blocks for the Sugar Block Club 2013 now I have to sew it all together.  Guess this will be a 2014 goal to complete.  Stay tuned for the 2014 photos of the next Sugar Block Club.

Where Did Summer Go?

It was a fun and busy summer doing fun stuff as playing softball, going to Havasu, Yosemite, Baseball Game and Disneyland!  Now summer is gone and fall has arrived.  Well, not really in California it seems that a new hot wave is on its way.  I did enjoy the tiny fall season we had for the last few days.  But I gotta say with the upcoming heat wave means I get to still have fun at the pool, practicing stand up paddle boarding, walking by the beach and going to Disneyland!  Fall at Disneyland is really pretty!  Check out some fun photos!

Havasu - too cute!

In between playing and working - I've been working on some blocks from the Sugar Block Club (www.stitcherydickorydock.com) and working on some quilts along with holiday projects!

Busy Weekend

It was a busy weekend.  I finished up the BOM for the Sugar Block Club.   I conquered my first clutch purse.  The pattern was designed by Diane Stanley and can find it at Craftsy.com.  It was pretty fun to make.  Last if you visit www.Stitcherydickorydock.com you can vote for my block mine is number 44.   Wish me luck.  Well I hope you are enjoying the sunny weather outside!
